FIR TREE CENTRE NEEDS YOUR HELP TO PUT PLAY ON THE MAP!

As you may be aware, the current Fir Tree Drive (FTD) playground is disused, appears overgrown and is somewhat of an eyesore.  The playground is a plot of land on the west side of Fir Tree Drive, Treharris, and is being offered as a community transfer to the benefit of residents in Quakers Yard.   Fir Tree Community Association and Hafod Housing want to hear your voice in how your park is developed and managed. Fir Tree Centre Open Day

Despite the weather we had an amazing turn out for our first Community Open Day.  We were able to host a range of free activities, with fun for the whole family, including a BBQ, bouncy castle, arts and crafts.  The event also featured a market place which showcased local organizations and advocate services on offer from the Centre, including healthy eating initiatives, housing support and a new Quakers Yard development consultation. “Garden Party” Buffet!

We were able to provide a lovely buffet to Rhondda Housing Association last week. We prepared a whole host of home made cakes including Scones, Welsh cakes and Victoria sponges along with beautifully prepared home made finger sandwiches. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all and we received some amazing feedback (see our feedback page for more details). Many thanks to Elaine, one of our volunteers who gives up her valuable time to come in and bake for us once a week and of course thanks to Rhondda Housing Association for their much appreciated business.…Read more …

Bug Hotel

A lot of fun was had yesterday creating a new home and collecting insects and bugs for our 'Bug Hotel'. Everyone who took part did a brilliant job in all working together to achieve the finishing product which now takes pride of place at Fir Tree Centre.Read more …

Easter Egg Hunt At Fir Tree

Easter Monday was a great family fun day out at Fir Tree Centre, Everyone together were busy hunting for the eggs the Easter bunny had set out in the sunshine and then even gave a special appearance to the children.The children enjoyed showing off their prizes and wore their Easter bonnets which they created themselves.
